I recently visited the Welcome Centre based at Trinity Methodist Church in order to find out more about this important resource. Live at Home is a volunteer-based scheme, offering support and friendship to older people in the community who may be isolated and unable to get out and about as they used to. Everyone I met was very appreciative of all the various service provided.
As well as the welcome centre which meets at Trinity Church every Monday and Friday, there is a One-to- Befriending service, Supported Shopping mini-bus service, Hospital Transport, social outings and more! Everyone I spoke too was still talking about the wonderful Christmas dinner held at the Civic Hall.
Whether you’re an older person in need of support and friendship or someone who could offer some time as a volunteer, Alison Thomson would love to hear from you on 0151 357 3873.
